Hollywood Gossip | Battle of the Babes #119: The Exotics Battle

This is one area where I don't excel. Even though I grew up in an ethnically diverse area, I became familiar with those looks to the point where they stopped being anything exotic to me. Hearing people gasp and cross themselves when a Mexican lass won the Miss Universe pageant over the weekend was nothing big to me. I wouldn't have batted an eyelash over Filipino or any other Pacific Islander either. But as for my geographically challenged ass, I'm still grasping what the rest of the world considers to be "exotic." So let's hope I picked a good selection this week.

Moon Bloodgood

While there are people speculating that Moon hails from some Native American tribe, in reality the TERMINATOR SALVATION beauty has father of Dutch/Irish decent and a mother from a South Korean background. She was born in the very American place called Anaheim, California and has so far been cast as an exotic chick who might raise eyebrows about her ethnicity, but it's left vague enough on purpose. I hate to say so, but her strongest asset in the movie biz seems to be that she can pull of being the female version of Vin Diesel.

Aubrey Plaza

A couple of weeks ago when I did the SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD battle, I thought I had my mind set on which chicks from that movie people would be crushing on the most. I went to see the movie after I'd posted that battle, so I got a delayed personal reaction to whom I preferred. I still say that Brie looked awesome in that movie, but what surprised me more is that I found Aubrey Plaza, the black-barred, foul-mouthed friend of Stacey Pilgrim, to be pretty darn swell. Plaza first caught my attention with her acerbic demeanor in FUNNY PEOPLE, but this half Puerto Rican babe really shines without having to put on hottie airs. Definitely a huge plus from my point of view.

Freida Pinto

It's taken me awhile to become a fan of Frieda Pinto. There might be a few people left who remember me taking shit for saying that I didn't find Indian women attractive as a whole. What most didn't grasp is that I didn't have a lot of exposure to the actress at that time and I was trying to understand why people thought she was such a babe since she'd only been in one movie. Granted, I still haven't seen her in SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, but with my scrounging for images, I keep finding instances where Pinto is simply beautiful. And when a woman is beautiful in my eyes, I don't question what background she came from. She's just beautiful. Which is probably why this week has been hard on me.
